Product Overview
While Opti-Lube Diesel Fuel Additives are known for protecting your equipment by providing exceptional lubrication to the fuel system, each product has an additional focus. (Ranked first in an independent study, view it here).
Opti-Lube Winter is a multi-functional performance diesel additive. Meaning it does a little bit of everything with anti-gel as it’s focus. It gives protection down to -40F*. The best diesel fuel additive on the market for cold weather use. Winter formula does not contain any harmful alcohol. (For more in formation about alcohol in fuel please visit our blog. Available by the 4oz 8 pack, 8 oz. 6 pack, Quart, Gallon, 5-Gallon Pail and 55 Gallon Drum
*Dependant on base fuel and the amount of wax in the fuel. Higher doses of anti-gel may be needed in some areas.
Benefits:
- Enhanced Lubricity for Reduced Fuel System Wear

*Temperatures below -20°F increase treatment rate to 1/2oz per gallon of diesel fuel.
Instructions for use:
Don't Forget Winter Formula is a Preventative Anti-gel.
Preventative anti-gels are used before gelling occurs. To ensure a Preventative anti-gel works properly there is an important rule to keep in mind. Diesel Fuel cannot be at or below the cloud point when Preventative anti-gel is added. There are two reasons for this: (1) If the fuel is cold and wax has begun to crystallize and link, the cold flow additive will not be able to modify the crystals as designed to minimize their growth or alter their morphology, (2) Cold fuel has poor solubility, meaning proper mixing can not occur. The easiest way to ensure your preventative additive is properly mixed and your diesel is not too cold during winter months is to add it at the pump while fueling. When mixed properly the preventive anti-gel will do its job while not ‘falling out’ of solution or separating. Opti-Lube XPD and Winter contain components that interact with the wax molecules in a way that prevents them from stacking and subsequently forming large, filter plugging crystals.

ANTI-GEL INFO
Typically speaking, there are two kinds of anti-gel, Preventative and Post CFPP.
Post CFPP Anti-gels are used after gelling or plugging has already occurred. They are often alcohol or kerosene based to burn through the waxes and restore fuel flow. These chemicals are typically avoided because of their lack of lubricity and the caustic effect they have on rubber seals and hoses. However if you are gelled up on the side of the road, the speed by which alcohol or kerosene can liquefy wax build up outweigh the negative effects.
Preventative Anti-gels are used before gelling occurs. To ensure a Preventative anti-gel works properly there is an important rule to keep in mind.
Diesel Fuel can not be at or below the cloud point when Preventative anti-gel is added.
There are two reasons for this: (1) If the fuel is cold and wax has begun to crystallize and link, the cold flow additive will not be able to modify the crystals as designed to minimize their growth or alter their morphology and (2) cold fuel has poor solubility, meaning proper mixing can not occur. The easiest way to ensure your preventative additive is properly mixed and your diesel is not too cold during winter months is to add it at the pump while fueling.
Make effort to have your additive as warm as possible. If the additive freezes or begins to gel during storage, place the additive somewhere 70⁰F or above for at least 2 hours before mixing with diesel fuel.
Once mixed properly the preventive anti-gel will not only do its job but will not ‘fall out’ of solution or separate.
Opti-Lube is happy to provide 3 anti-gel formulas: Preventative - XPD and Winter, Post CFPP - Gel Melt.
